TU and Nepal Police sign MoU to utilize knowledge and expertise of academic sector

KATHMANDU, July 18: Tribhuvan University and Nepal Police have reached an understanding to utilize the knowledge and expertise of academic sector to strengthen community security and conduct academic activities without any hindrances.

The understanding reached between the two institutions as part of Community Police Partnership aims at utilizing the institutional expertise in teaching and training activities.

TU Vice Chancellor Tirtha Raj Khaniya and Nepal Police Chief IGP Sarbendra Khanal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect amid a function on Wednesday.

The MoU paves way for incorporating subject matters related to security in the process of formulating syllabus, ensuring mutual coordination in teaching and learning activities, sharing information, support each other in the management of resource persons and volunteers, promoting awareness on security and helping each other in the publication materials.

Among other things, the MoU also stresses joint organization of workshops and seminars and coordination with TU's various departments on matters relating to information technology development, providing internship opportunities and developing electronic library.

Speaking at the function organized at Nepal Police Headquarters in Naxal on Wednesday, TU Vice Chancellor Tirtha Raj Khaniya expressed confidence that the partnership between Nepal Police and TU would help to bring positive results in both the institutions. He also said that TU is committed to providing qualified manpower to the Nepal Police by creating attraction to police service.

Also speaking on the occasion, Nepal Police Chief Sarbendra Khanal said police organization is making efforts to positively changes people's perception toward police through partnership with higher academic institutions. He said that the partnership will be helpful to make police organization further strong, effective and timely.
