SARLAHI, July 2: One killed and six sustained injuries when a bus collided head-on with a truck in Sarlahi.
The accident took place at Phuljor bridge along the East-West Highway when the bus carrying snakebite patient Gopal Ghimire, 20, from Ghaaribathan collided with the truck.
The bus (Ba 3 Kha 2054) en route to Nawalpur from Ishworpur municipality collided head-on with the truck (Na 5 Kha 7795) on Tuesday morning.
According to Area Police Office Lalbandhi, bus driver Madhav Layo Magar, 24, a permanent resident of Ishworpur municipality died on the spot.
Those injured are Dhruba Prasad Ghimire, 54, Gopal Ghimire, 20, Sujan Ghimire, 20, Pratap Thoker, 36 and Rohit Lama, 35.
According to police, injured are receiving treatment at Lalbandhi-based hospitals.
Ranjit Thoker, the truck driver who sustained minor injuries is under police custody at Police Station Phuljore.
Ghimire has sustained head injuries after the accident.
The east-west highway was obstructed for an hour following the accident.
