KATHMANDU, June 25: Parliamentarians have drawn the attention of the government on various contemporary issues during a session of the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
Speaking at the session, lawmaker Bimala Nepali urged the government to table a new bill at the House of Representatives to resolve the much-debated issue of citizenship.
"Since the citizenship issue remains a contentious issue for long due to series of inconsistent decisions made by Home Ministry, the government needs to table a new bill at the House of Representatives in this regard," she said.
Taking a reference of the ongoing dispute over the copyright claim on a song called "Galbandi" between singers Shambhu Rai and Prakash Saput, lawmaker Bimala Biswakarma demanded action against those involved in undermining the artists in the name of supporting singer Rai.
Lawmaker Maheswor Jung Gahatraj demanded action against some social media users who have passed offensive comments on the song "Galbandi" and its singers Prakash Saput and Shantishree Pariyar.
Lawmaker Mina Subba expressed serious concern over increasing cases of syringe attacks against women in the capital. "The government should launch probe into the incident and take action against those involved," she said.
