Yarsa pickers death toll in Dolpa rises to eight

Eight people who had gone to various highlands of Dolpa to collect Yarsa have died due to extreme cold. It hasn’t been a week that three more people lost their life due to the extreme cold. In total, eight people have died.

Nepal's economic growth rate to reach 7.1 per cent : World Bank

The World Bank has assumed 7.1 percent as Nepal’s economic growth rate for the current fiscal year 2076/77. The report that was issued on Thursday stated that the growth in Nepal’s economy is speeding up contributing to the assumption. Speaking at the program, Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada said that the country is still progressing though having a loss in the business sector. 

Budget has adopted goal of socialism: FM Khatiwada

The government has clarified that budget for the coming fiscal year 2019/20 has been allocated in order to fulfill the goal of socialism enshrined in the constitution. Responding to queries raised by lawmakers in today’s meeting of the HoR, Minister for Finance, Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada, said that the budget has addressed the norms and values guaranteed by the constitution and accepted that weakness could be seen on some issues as activities of fiscal federalism implementation were underway.

Notorious gangster 'Radhe' arrested

Notorious gangster Radha Krishna Bhandari alias ‘Radhe’ has been arrested. Bhandari was arrested on Wednesday evening from Gajuri rural municipality-2 of Dhading along with weapons. Police have also arrested few other gang members along with Bhandari.

Military government chief Prayuth Chan-ocha elected Thai PM

Thailand's new parliament has elected military government chief Prayuth Chan-ocha as the country's prime minister, completing a transition from coup leader to head of a civilian government in a system seen tilted in his favour. Prayuth received 500 votes to 244 for Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit of the Future Forward Party. The military-backed Palang Pracharat Party that nominated him as their prime ministerial candidate finished second in the March 24 general election.

NPC reaches finals of PM One-Day Cricket Tournament

Departmental Nepal Police Club (NPC) entered the finals of the ongoing Prime Minister Cup One-Day National Cricket Men's Cricket Tournament by defeating departmental Armed Police Force (APF) by five wickets in today's match at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
