The program commenced with performances that summarized the last fifty years of contemporary Nepali music. While Aavas, the founder of Paleti as well as a musician, talked about Nepali contemporary music, Paleti in-house singers Suraj and Meena turned the atmosphere into a melodious one, with their song covers.[break]
On the second half of the show, Pradhan took the stage. His fans welcomed him with a standing ovation. Pradhan started the Paleti evening by singing ‘Maya Namaar Mayalu’ followed by popular numbers like ‘Goreto Tyo Gaunko’, ‘Paara Laijau Phul Haru’ and ‘Tara Matra Hoina Timilai’.
Along with singing songs, Pradhan also took the audience down his memory lane. Some of the incidents he shared were able to make the audience laugh.
“Our dream of bringing respected Nepali singers of the older generation to Australia has come true. We got the chance to honor such a great singer. We are elated,” commented Mukti Rokka, one of the organizers.
“I had heard him 40 years ago at City Hall in Nepal,” recalled Romi Malla, a member of the audience. Uglyz band vocalist, Sarun Tamrakar, who had also come to the event with his mother said, “Meeting Prem Dhoj sir, is one of the unforgettable moments of my life. I got goose bumps when I heard him sing. This program has set a benchmark for Nepali music shows in Sydney.”
