650,000 tourists entered Dang in NTY '11

DANG, Jan 17: Dang district has witnessed the entry of at least 650,000 tourists and transaction of Rs. 200 million during the Nepal Tourism Year 2011, informed Tourism Development Committee of Dang District Development Committee.



According to the information provided by Committee´s Member-Secretary Govinda Acharya, among the tourists arrived in the district are 500 from third countries, 238,000 from neighboring India and 411,000 from within various parts of the country.[break]



During the Tourism Year, various eight tourism festivals were organized in Dang alone.



Around Rs. 17.64 million was invested in course of undertaking feasibility study of tourism sites, identifying tourism areas and organizing various tourism festivals in Dang district during the year, Acharya further informed.



Meanwhile, the closing ceremony of the Tourism Year was organized here recently.



On the occasion, various speakers stressed the need to go hand in hand for the promotion of tourism industry in the district.
