KATHMANDU, Nov 26: The total voter turnout of the election of House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly held on Sunday was 65%.
According to the Election Commission, the highest voter turnout was recorded in Bajura with 80% previously. However, with the latest updates, EC informed that Rasuwa recorded highest voter turnover with 83.5%.
Phase II voter turnout 73.7: EC
Organizing a press meet at on Sunday evening, Election Commissioner Ayodhee Yadav, citing it as preliminary report, informed that the turnout might increase as data from all 32 districts are yet to be collected.
The unveiled voter turnover is lower than that of local election which saw 74% voter turnover. "Due to the unfavorable climate, the voter turnover might be less", said Yadav in the press meet.
The elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies was held in 37 constituencies of 32 mountain and hilly districts in the first phase. The polls in the remaining districts will be organized on December 7.
A total of 702 candidates were in the fray in the first phase elections, while there were the total 3.191 million voters. There were a total of 2,919 polling centers and 4,465 polling stations.
