MYAGDI, Jan 25: The Gandaki province government has operated 65 projects related to drinking water, irrigation and river control in Myagdi this year.
The Water Supply, Water Resource and Irrigation Development Division Office, Beni, Myagdi, has implemented 36 drinking water projects, 20 irrigation projects, six river control projects, two energy projects and one survey-related project with a budget of Rs 143.85 million.
Office chief, senior division engineer Jhalak Mohan Ojha informed that contracts for 26 projects have already been signed and cost estimates of 38 projects have been prepared and are in the process of implementation.
Damage to irrigation amounts to Rs 2.42 billion
"As per the policy of the province government, the projects that could not have direct participation from users have been implemented through contract," he said, adding that 18.19 percent financial and 48 percent physical progress of the total budget has been carried out during the six months of the fiscal year.
Office Chief Ojha shared that over Rs 25.8 million has been spent on capital expenditure till mid-January of the current fiscal year 2024/25.
A budget of Rs 5.1 million has been received for five water supply projects of federal conditional grant and Rs 6.5 million for Ratnechaur lift drinking water scheme of federal special grant.
A budget of Rs 138.785 million has been received for 30 drinking water, 20 irrigation, six river control and two energy projects of the provincial government, the office shared.
