KATHMANDU, Nov 3: The second session of the House of Representatives (HoR), which commenced on May 7, 2023, Sunday, concluded after a total of 180 days on November 2, 2023, Thursday.
According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, during this period, 65 meetings took place in 61 days. Additionally, six joint meetings of the two houses of the Federal Parliament were convened.
In accordance with the provisions of sub-rule (5) of Rule 56 of the House of Representatives Regulations, 2079 BS, three question-and-answer sessions with the Prime Minister were conducted in the meetings held on May 18, June 23, and August 29, 2023.

Similarly, the 'Ordinance to amend some Nepal Acts related to the National Penal Code, 2080 BS', which was submitted to the first meeting of the HoR was approved during the meeting held on May 10, 2023.
In this session of the HoR, eight government bills and one non-government bill were registered. Of those bills, three bills have been passed by both houses of the Federal Parliament. Three bills are under discussion by various committees while two bills have only been introduced to the HoR while one bill is currently under the process of registration.
In addition, among the three bills under consideration in the relevant committees in the first session of the HoR, the report of the committee on "Bill to amend some laws related to Prevention of Money Laundering and Promotion of Business Environment" was submitted in the meeting.
Similarly, the 'Bill to amend some Nepal Acts related to the National Penal Code, 2080', which originated in the National Assembly and received in the HoR has been passed by the HoR, while the 'Nepal University Bill, 2080 BS' is pending in the relevant committee.
Seven bills received from the National Assembly in the first session of the HoR are still pending in the relevant committees. In the current session of the House of Representatives, out of 162 oral and 6 written questions related to various ministries, 129 oral and 3 written questions were answered, and 15 oral questions were answered by the respective ministers in various meetings of the HoR. According to sub-rule (3) of Rule 45 of the House of Representatives Rules, 2079 BS, the answers to the remaining oral and written questions have been tabulated in the HoR.
Similarly, in the meeting on August 23, 2023, the order issued by the decision of the Government of Nepal, the Council of Ministers to extend the term of the Commission on Investigation of Disappeared Persons, Truth, and Reconciliation, in accordance with subsection (2) of Section 42 of the Commission on Investigation of Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation Act, 2014 was submitted.
