KATHMANDU, Sept 27: In a game of Martyrs' B Division League held at the ANFA Complex situated at Satdobato, the officials of Shree Kumari Club manhandled the referee after the match.
The game between NRT and Shree Kumari Club was very important for both the sides to qualify for the A division. As soon as the referee blew the final whistle, the officials of Shree Kumari Club ran inside the pitch in a fit of rage. The referee for the match, Sudesh Pandey was beaten black and blue by the officials. Padam Bhujel and Yunal Malla were linesmen whereas Pandey was the fourth official for the game.
The security for the game wasn't tight. Shree Kumari was 1-0 behind NRT and managed to score a late goal but the ref ruled it offside. Similarly, during the second half, NRT goal-keeper cleared the ball inside the penalty box. Officials of the Shree Kumari club were angry when, according to them, the referee did not signal foul 'though he should have'.
Nakul Hamal Thakuri, the chairman of Shree Kumari, said that the incident took place in fury. “Referee had acted biased. Due to which the officials burnt in rage and concluded a fight,” said Hamal, “Though we are B Division, we have invested much. Our investments will sink due to Referee’s decisions. We accept the decisions made by ANFA.”
