BANKE, July 6: The District Police Office, Banke, has taken a tough stance against those calling bandas under different pretexts, all in the name of Loktantra.

The move comes in the wake of Mid-Western Region police chief, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Madan Bahadur Khadka, issuing directives to officers to deal stringently with bandas and strikes in the region.

“I have given directives to curb the malpractice of calling bandas over trivial issues and using this as a bargaining tool to seek compensation,” DIG Khadka said. District police used force to open the obstructed Nepalgunj-Kohalpur road section Monday morning as per the directives.
