NC leaders call on Chairman Regmi

KATHMANDU, April 17: A delegation led by Nepali Congress Vice-president, Ram Chandra Paudel, called on Chairman of the Interim Election Council (IEC), Khil Raj Regmi, and urged the government to hold serious talks with the agitating fringe political parties and create an environment of election immediately.



During the meeting held at IEC Chairman´s official residence at Baluwatar, they suggested that the government expedite the campaign for citizenship certificate distribution and voter´s list collection under a special campaign.[break]



The NC leaders expressed concern on the delay in the process to declare the date for election and drew IEC Chairman Regmi´s attention to create environment for election and move ahead promising to provide necessary support from high level committee in case of any difficulties.



The NC has suggested starting formal talks with the CPN-Maoist, and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal immediately, among others.



The CPN-Maoist, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal, and some fringe parties have been making various dissenting views regarding the election and on the formation of the election government.
