The deliberations witnessed exchanges of allegations and counter allegations. Over 1,000 delegates gathered from across the country were sharply divided for and against the reports.
While some delegates accused Treasurer Sah of misappropriating FNJ money and failing to maintain transparency, others countered, saying the allegations were baseless and politically biased.
Later, the reports were endorsed after FNJ Chairman Shiva Gaunle, General Secretary Sharma and Sah committed themselves to addressing the participants´ concerns as per feedback and maintaining transparency.
"We will always remain accountable for all decisions and actions taken during our tenure. We have already done a lot toward maintaining transparency in the organization and we are committed to developing a system in this connection," said Gaule, addressing the closed-door session.
Participating in the deliberations, dozens of delegates criticized the leadership of the FNJ fiercely, saying the umbrella organization of Nepali journalists in the country failed to ensure the physical and professional security to media persons.
While some participants accused the leadership of not maintaining political neutrality, others said the FNJ´s top executive body was too engaged in political issues and not working seriously for the professional issues and concerns of journalists.
The general assembly, which was called mainly to discuss the organization´s financial report and policy issues, was expected to conclude late Saturday night.
