KATHMANDU, Sept 7: Nepal Food Corporation (NFC), Nepal Livestock Traders Association and other retail entrepreneurs have started bringing goats, he-goats and mountain goats into the market on the occasion Dashain festival.

Around 60,000 goats will be brought to the Capital City for the main festival of the Hindus.

“NFC will bring some 3,000 goats. Among them, 1,500 will be brought from Mustang and remaining from Tarai region,” said NFC General Manager, Shiva Hari Shrestha.

He informed Republica Online that the goats will be sold from Thapathali.

“However, 3,000 goats are not going to be enough for the people in the Valley since the demand stands at around 60,000 goats,” he said, “ We are trying to sell the goats at a reliable price and we are also trying our best to curtail black marketeering .”

According to Shrestha, the goats will be sold from the second day of the 15-day long festival.

The goats will be collected from Nepalgunj, Birgunj, Dang and Lahan and brought to the Valley.

Shrestha explained that the corporation has been demanding with the Ministry Of Supplies to sell the goat at the rate of Rs 10/kilogram.
