6,000 policemen to be deployed in East during festivals

MORANG, Oct 2: In an effort to maintain law and order during Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals, the Eastern Regional Police Office, Biratnagar, has deployed over 6,000 police personnel in the eastern part of the country.



Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Nepal Police Surendra Bahadur Shah, said police personnel have been deployed along the Nepal-India borderlines, and in forest areas of the East-West Highway, Koshi Highway and Mechi Highway in a bid to control probable criminal activities. [break]



He also said that police personnel in plain clothes have been dispatched by identifying the probable sites for crimes.



Shah said police personnel have been made aware to stave off general strike and protest programs during the festivals.
