The event gathered a total of 400 women from diverse backgrounds, ethnicity and careers. The run gathered women from a large demographic with the youngest runner being two and the oldest being 60.
According to the organizers, the primary goal of the event was to empower women and girls through running and get members of their community to participate as well.

While it was only the women who could participate as runners, men and boys too played a very supportive role at the event. They kept the runners’ motivation level up by cheering for them across the routes and volunteered throughout the entire event.

“It was such a fulfilling experience to see a huge number of women from different communities from as far as Dolpa come together and run. We had initially anticipated 300 women to participate but we had an enormous turnout of a total of 400 which was incredible. I think it was the collaborative effort from everyone that made the event successful” shares Aparna, one of the event organizers.

One of the runners, Sayam said, “The 5K Run was an awesome experience. Running with this huge bunch of enthusiastic women in the spirit of Women's day gave me a joyous feeling.”
