At a special ceremony organized at Patan Durbar Square, FWEAN felicitated entrepreneur Laxmi Lama. Lama is running a micro enterprise, which produces candle and soap, after receiving training from WEAN.[break]
“The felicitation has encouraged me further and I want to share the achievement with other women,” Lama said.
Speaking on the occasion, Chhaya Sharma, president of FWEAN, said celebration of International Women´s Day was a small effort to encourage women entrepreneurs and provide them a platform to share their experiences.
Laura Anne Watson of International Finance Corporation unveiled a publication of FWEAN titled “Enterprising Women Nepal”.
Meanwhile, women entrepreneurs also showcased locally produced products at Haat Bazar. The fair showcased products like handicrafts, garments, ayurvedic oil, soap and honey, among others.
The event also featured musical presentation of popular artiste Ani Choying Dolma and street drama that urged all to foster women entrepreneurship.
A procession was taken out early in the morning.
Prior to the ceremony, a rally was organized in the morning. Entrepreneurs, professionals from various sector along with representatives from diplomatic agencies participated in the rally.
Student entrepreneurs represent Nepal in Canada
