During a meeting held at the CPN-Maoist head office in Buddha Nagar on Friday, they suggested to the party leaders to accept CJ led government arguing that it would not be in the interests of the country to take to streets at a critical juncture in the country´s politics. They also urged the party leaders to seek a solution through fresh election. [break]
“The leaders told the representatives that the party stands in favor of a government led by political parties. They said that a CJ-led government would be against the principle of separation of powers and set a negative precedent,” sources quoted Vice-chairman CP Gajurel and general secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa as saying.
Maoist leaders also argued that they would not support the decision of the major parties.
According to a press statement issued by party spokesperson Pampha Bhusal, mainly the envoys of Switzerland, France, Britain and Denmark expressed serious concern over the current political and constitutional deadlock. They also expressed concern over the future of democracy in Nepal.
The European envoys also enquired Maoist leaders about possible solution to the current crisis. The Maoist leaders had repeated their agenda of roundtable assembly to solve the current crisis.
“It is clear that the so-called three major parties, which have already failed, are complicating matters by overlooking our agenda,” reads the statement. Maoist leaders had accused major three parties --UCPN (Maoist, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML -- and the United Democratic Madhesi Front as the root cause of the problems.
The press statement said Nepal is facing political and constitutional crisis after the dissolution of the Constitution Assembly. The leaders also claimed that Nepal is moving toward becoming a failed state.
According to the press statement, representatives expressed their belief that the CPN-Maoist would not launch an armed struggle by boycotting the election. “We are clear that the CPN-Maoist does not have any policy to launch an immediate armed struggle by boycotting the election,” reads the statement.
The European envoys have also pledged continuous support to Nepal´s campaign for peace and democracy.
