Speaking to reporters here in the district headquarters, Chautara, leader Pokharel said that demanding more powers by CJ is surprising as he already agreed to be prime minister if the parties agree on his name.[break]
“Does he want to be an authoritarian PM by asking for more powers?” Pokharel questioned.
On the occasion, he stressed on the need of settling the issue of the leadership of poll government from within political parties.
He argued that the formation of a CJ-led poll government will violate the principle of separation of powers and therefore his party will never compromise on it.
“If other political parties insist on the CJ as the head of poll government, the issue should be dealt with as per constitutional provisions,”Pokharel said.
He, however, said that his party will have no reservation over the CJ leading poll government if he agrees to step downs as judiciary head.
Pokhrel has arrived here to inaugurate the eighth district convention of the Nepal Civil Servants Employees Association.
