KATHMANDU, Feb 19: The top leaders of four major political parties--UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and United Democratic Madhesi Front—have decided to meet Chief Justice (CJ) Khilaraj Regmi on Wednesday.
It has been reported that the CJ refused to accept the post of the state´s chief executive expressing reservations on few issues of the nine-point agreement. [break]The CJ also demanded parties’ commitments to hold Constituent Assembly (CA) elections by mid-June.
Meanwhile, the meeting of the parties held at the Army Integration Special Committee Secretariat at New Baneshwor on Tuesday, decided to assign it’s the top leaders to finalize the nine-point agreement, UCPN (Maoist) leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara said.
The parties still differ some issues related to peace process and election-related matters such as the criteria for preparing voter list and citizenship.
The senior leaders of the parties including Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, RSS reported that UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, NC President Sushil Koriala, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal and UDMF coordinator Gachchhadar also held a separate meeting.
Parties still differ on some points, effort on to patch up differences

The top leaders of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) and the major three parties held a meeting on Tuesday morning to thrash out an agreement on some points of the proposal presented to the top leaders on Monday by the taskforce.
But the leaders could not agree on certain topics related to the election in this meeting also. The meeting was held at UCPN (Maoist) chairman Puhpa Kamal Dahal´s residence at Lazimpat.[break]
The leaders could not reach an agreement especially on the issue of distribution of citizenship certificates in the Madhes, voter registration and constitution of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, according to chairman of the Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP), Mahantha Thakur.
The meeting held serious discussions on the topics on which the leader could not agree on Monday.
Although there was no agreement in the meeting this morning, the leaders have said they would put in efforts to that end immediately.
It is expected that the parties will reach an agreement on the contentious issues until the evening today.
The political parties had formed the taskforce for forging common understanding with a guarantee of the basis for holding the elections by this mid-June and for the preparations required for this.
It is said that though the parties have agreed on many points of the recommendations submitted by the taskforce, there are some points remaining in which the top leaders of the four parties will have to hold further discussions to arrive at a conclusion.
The major political parties are meeting at the army integration secretariat at Naya Baneshwar later in the afternoon today to forge consensus on the remaining contentious issues.
