He credits his grandfather for making sure that he and his nine siblings got an education that helped them. Mainali started his career as a school teacher. Next, he worked as a cash assistant in Nepal Rastriya Bank. “I got the job through my uncle who was a cashier in the bank,” he remembers. With the job placed in Bhairawa, he got his first experience of a train ride while travelling there. He continued to work in the bank for 32 years.[break]
Trade Tower, he explains, is basically a hydro electricity power project developing company. Currently, the company is running its operations in three districts, Sankhuwasabha, Lamjung and Baglung, and has three projects in the pipeline. “We hope to develop and start the projects in Taplejung, Nepalgunj and Sankhuwasabha districts,” he says.

Trade Tower also has plans to build low cost housing for rural people, and develop a new township. He states that negotiations are being worked out with land developers and banks.
Every dream project’s completion makes him a very happy man. These projects coming to life is proof that his investment and hard work have converted into success.
Nepal has a lot of opportunities available in various sectors, he says. Nepal has huge potential. In agriculture, tourism, mining. “What we need to do is stop going the conventional route and bring in new ideas,” he says. Thus, with willingness to struggle here and make the most of the opportunities present, there is no need to go abroad.
