19,000 eggs destroyed in Ramkot

KATHMANDU, Dec 25: Over 19,000 eggs have been destroyed in suspect of bird flu at a local hatchery in Ramkot-6, Kathmandu on Tuesday.



According to Directorate of Animal Health (DAH), Teku, bird flu was detected in a poultry farm belonging to Subir Man Singh Basnet two days ago. Basnet claimed that he dumped around 2500 chicken after they died ‘due to inspection’. [break]



DAH had mobilized a rapid response team to destroy the eggs today.



Surveillance has been intensified in the area after the disease outbreak.
