As the locals are finding it difficult to brave the chilling cold, Kalaiya Municipality in Bara has started arranging campfires in several parts of the town from Saturday. Nathu Sah, executive officer of Kalaiya Municipality, said campfires have been set up at 10 places.
The locals who are without warm clothing say the campfire arrangement has provided them a huge relief. Shambhu Raut, who has come to Kalaiya from Banjariya VDC to work as a mason, said he felt relieved when he got to huddle around the fire. “I was about to die of cold,” said Raut. “When I saw the fire by the road, I stopped my work and joined other people.”
In Simara of Bara, maximum temperature was just 13.5 degree Celsius on Saturday, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD). As thick fog prevents sun rays from reaching the ground, maximum temperature remains low in many parts of the Tarai.
