KATHMANDU, Dec 18: The rival factions of the Nepali Congress have reached a consensus on Tuesday regarding the number of the office bearers and their appointment. The NC leaders forged the consensus on the amended party charter during the ongoing Mahasamiti meeting being held at a party palace in the capital.
According to party vice president, Bimalendra Nidhi, the agreement between the rival factions has reached to increase the number of the members to nine. As per the agreement, there will be one president, two vice-presidents, two general secretaries, two joint general secretaries, one treasurer and one spokesperson in the party.
The appointment of the members for the posts will be made through the election. However, the party president will nominate the treasurer and the spokesperson, Nidhi informed.
Similarly, 161 members will be in the working committee of the party, among which the party president will nominate 20 percent members.
Meanwhile, the Mahasamiti meeting of the party has extended for two more days. The meeting which was supposed to be concluded on Wednesday will now be concluded on Friday. The meeting of Thursday and Friday will be held at party central office in Sanepa. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 12 pm.
