KATHMANDU, March 14: About 55 percent of the households in Karnali that have access to electricity are consuming up to 20 units of free electricity. Out of 114,300 Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) customers in the province, 62,600 households are consuming free electricity.
800,000 households likely to get electricity for free
The government has provided up to 20 units of energy free of cost to household customers with a 5 ampere meter. Such customers have to pay a minimum of Rs 30. Karnali accounts for 0.8 percent of NEA's revenue from electricity sales.
