The Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) stated that solar power has been installed at these bodies with the objective of providing uninterrupted power supply as per the policy of preventing power shortage at the major bodies of the country at a time the entire country is facing power cuts.[break]
AEPC has installed a 24-Kilowatt-capacity solar power system at the TU Central Library at a cost of Rs. 8.5 million.
Similarly, a 14-Kilowatt-capacity solar system has been installed at the Office of the President at a cost of Rs. 5.4 million, said Ram Prasad Dhital, AEPC Assistant Director and chief of the Solar Power Programme there.
AEPC also plans to install solar power at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. It has already completed a study to that end. It is estimated that Rs. 17 million will be required for installing a 77-Kilowatt –capacity solar power system at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
It is also learnt the AEPC is making preparations for installing solar power with a capacity of generating one megawatt electricity in the Singh Durbar premises. It is estimated that this will cost Rs. 200 million.
