KATHMANDU, Sept 4: The government has stepped up efforts to repair 20 suspension bridges damaged by the Bhotekoshi River flood in Rasuwa.
The flood on August 26 damaged 53 of the 64 suspension bridges located between Muglin and Timure.

After government officials visited the affected areas and assessed the damage, they concluded that 20 of the 53 damaged bridges required repair.
The government issued work orders for the repair of the bridges on September 2. Repair work has progressed on five suspension bridges: Mahesh Dobhan–Mastar, Kalikathan, Malinga–Majhuwa Tar, Keureni–Gahate and Pimaltar–Jagaram Khola.
The repairs on these five bridges are expected to be completed within a month.
Meanwhile, the government has also invited tenders for the reconstruction of 33 suspension bridges that were deemed beyond repair. The tender was issued on September 2.
