SARLAHI, Oct 13: At a time when his party is in formal talks with Mahantha Thakur-led Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) regarding possible unification, Chairman of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (MPRF) Upendra Yadav has said that there cannot be unification among Madhesi parties based on ideology.

Addressing a press conference organized by MPRF Sarlahi in Nawalpur on Saturday, Yadav acknowledged that there had been no progress in the talks with TMDP regarding unification between two parties. [break]

He said they were ready to form an alliance even with ruling parties for the cause of federalism and other common issues. Two Madhesi parties including MPRF and five Janajati parties had recently formed Federal Democratic Forum (FDF) in a bid to work for the cause of Madhesi and indigenous issues.

Yadav stressed on the need for the formation of a neutral government to announce new polls for Constituent Assembly (CA). "There is no alternative to go for fresh election to end the current political crisis," he added.

Yadav also maintained that CA could not be revived stating that such a move would be non-political and unconstitutional. "You cannot revive the CA which had the mandate to promulgate a new constitution within two years, but it could not do it even after four years," he argued.

However, he stated that political consensus was a must to remove constitutional difficulties.

Yadav accused the present caretaker government of creating hindrances for consensus among political parties.

"Political, constitutional, economic and other crisis are the outcome of the present caretaker government," he said. "The present caretaker government should pave the way for formation of a national consensus government."
