Yubi Thapa is one of the most talked about fashion designers in the industry whose designs are barely missed by Nepali celebrities. Since childhood, he was fascinated by unique designer clothes and how fashion industry actually worked.
Further holding the dream of establishing himself as a fashion designer, he joined the field in 2012 after graduating from Namuna College of Fashion Technology in 2011. Having worked in more than a dozen of movies, Yubi is currently working on his designs for upcoming movie ‘Intu Mintu London Ma’. In conversation with My City’s Sonam Lama, Yubi revealed five things that many may not know about him.
A keen photographer
An admirer of art and culture, Yubi likes to capture all beautiful moments that he comes across. His experimentation on photography further grew after he recently bought a DSLR camera. “I definitely make sure to carry my camera with me during my travels and I try to use it better every time,” says Yubi.

Fond of cooking
Apart from trying his hands on making fashionable wears, Yubi is keen at experimenting with his culinary skills while in his kitchen. From cultural to western cuisines, he enjoys cooking vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian dishes, adding some tastes of his own.
Loves painting
Having started sketching and painting since school days, he finds the blend and amalgamation of colors extremely beautiful in paintings. Watching and learning art skills from YouTube painting tutorials is one of his great indulgences when spending spare hours at home.
An avid traveller
Travelling is what Yubi can barely stay without. Having travelled to myriad countries for both work and vacation, he found Manang and Mustang to be the most mesmerizing spots in Nepal. “I want to travel every corner of Nepal and would like to summit Mt Everest in the near future,” says Yubi.
Fond of cycling
He prefers cycling to travelling by any other means and takes it as a part of his hobby. “My last cycling experience was quite adventurous as we cycled from Thamel to Sundarijal. I also have plans to cycle around many parts of our country,” he said.
