Here, she shares with Republica five interesting things about her.She is a vegetarian
For the past 10 years, Malla has abstained from meat. The reason is her love for animals. "The truth is I didn't find any good reasons to consume meat. People often provide arguments such as it's a good source of protein, but there are many vegetables high in protein. So we don't have to necessarily opt for meat to get protein," she explains, also describing how the human body is different from that of the carnivores: "Carnivores have tube-like intestines, so that the meat they eat doesn't rot inside them. Similarly they have canine teeth designed to catch their prey and tear meat. Our anatomy is significantly different from that of a carnivore."
She has two dogs
Driven by her selfless love for dogs, some years back she had as many as 12 dogs at home. Not only did she use to adopt random dogs wandering on the streets, but even her friends called her up if they found a stray dog somewhere. Today, she's left with only two dogs—both from the streets. One of them is called 'Chhori', for that was the only name she finally responded to, she says.
She believes in signs given by animals
But instead of being alarmed at seeing a black cat crossing road, she tries to read why it crossed the road in the first place. "I feel birds and animals are constantly providing us signs to let us know about things in advance. For example, while feeding the birds every morning, I try to understand their mood. I also read books and articles on similar beliefs. It might be superstition for some people, but I firmly believe in signs given by animals," she says.
She is a healer
She conducts Reiki energy healing and other such forms of healing. Therefore, meditation is part of her daily routine. "We, the healers, use meditation to feel the power within and then distribute it among others," she shares. She received her training through Dr Yogi Vikashananda.
She gets mistaken for the real Prime Minister
Many people, while she was shooting for Singha Durbar, mistook her for the real Prime Minister. While shooting near Bouddha, some locals actually went to her and expressed their problems and sorrows. "I guess people in our country are way too busy making a living and dealing with their daily problems, so perhaps they aren't so concerned about politics. And for most people it doesn't matter who really the Prime Minister is," she says.
