MOSCOW, July 26: The International Canoe Federation has barred five Russian canoeists from the Rio de Janeiro Olympics including Olympic champion Alexander Dyachenko after they were named in a report alleging a state-sponsored doping cover-up.
The ICF says they were all in World Anti-Doping Agency investigator Richard McLaren's report last week, which detailed how Russian state officials allegedly intervened to cover up hundreds of failed drug tests.
ICF secretary general Simon Toulson said in a statement Tuesday that "that if you step out of line you won't make the start line."
The five include 2012 bronze medalist Alexei Korovashkov.
Separately, World Rowing said earlier Tuesday that three Russian rowers would be barred from competing because of prior bans and one who was mentioned in the McLaren report.
