Pyramid edged past Rosebud 41-36 in college category, Bridgewater saw off St Lawrence 48-18 and Liverpool thrashed Kumari College 41-9. During round robin match of girl´s section, Lord Buddha saw off East Pole 14-10 and South Point thumped Namgyal 11-5.
Sano Gaucharan, Planning Boys triumph
KATHMANDU: Sano Gaucharan Youth Club, Planning Boys United Club and Nayabasti Shaksham Nagar Club won their respective matches on Thursday during Red Bull C Division Football League being held at the Chyasal ground, Kathmandu. Sano Gaucharan edged past Samaj Kalyan Khelkud Kendra 2-1with both goals coming from Dipendra Kumar. Lile Magar completed a hat-trick in Planning Boy´s 4-1 win over Charumati Youth Club. Nayabasti saw off Sanepa Club 2-1. Dinesh Shahi was on target with both the goals of Nayabasti.
Harka Gurung futsal on Saturday
KATHMANDU: Former national football players are organizing Late Dr Harka Gurung Memorial Five-A-Side-Knockout Futsal Tournament on Saturday at Grassroot Futsal Arena, Mandikhatar. According to the organizers, the tournament is organized with a view to supporting an orphanage in Kathmandu.
A team can field only two players below the age of 30 while current national players will not be allowed to participate in the event, according to Sagar, son of late Gurung and one of the tournament organizers.
The winner and the runner-up team will bag a purse of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively while the best player will be given Rs 5,000. The organizers expect participation of more than 20 teams. Manakamana Cable Car is the chief sponsor of the event to be managed by Group of Event Entertainers.
Nepal draws with Malta
KATHMANDU: Nepal played a 2-2 draw against Malta during the eighth round of the 40th Olympiad of Chess being held in Istanbul, Turkey on Wednesday. Prachanda Man Malakar was the only player to win his board as FIDE Master contender Keshav Shrestha suffered defeat while Rupesh Jaiswal and Manish Hamal earned half point apiece after playing draws. With the completion of the eighth round, Nepal has dropped a spot to 133rd. Nepal will meet Malawi in the ninth round.
