BUSINESS BRIEFS: Qatar Airways offers global sale

KATHMANDU, Sept 4: Qatar Airways is offering its customer great savings offer to more than 100 destination during its three-day global sale. Issuing a statement, the Doha-based airlines said the 72-hour offer will be valid till September 6. "The sale offers customers the opportunity to travel to variety of destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia and the Americas at very attractive fares," the statement added.



The travel window for this sale is for six months between September 10 to March 13. "Whether traveling for leisure or business, the three-day sale provides customers the opportunity to visit popular destinations and discover newly-introduced routes available on our rapidly expanding network," the statement quoted Chief Executive Officer of the airlines, Akbar Al Baker, as saying. Since the beginning of 2012, Qatar Airways has launched flights to Baku in Azerbaijan, Tbilisi in Georgia, Kigali in Rwanda, Zagreb of Croatia, Erbil of Iraq, Baghdad, Perth, and Kilimanjaro of Tanzania.



Ananda Jewelers announces Teej offer



KATHMANDU
: Ananda Jewelers at Indrachowk has announced a special offer for the upcoming Teej festival. The company, which has been selling gold and silver jewelries since a decade, will provide 50 percent discount on working charge on gold and silver jewelries, according to a statement issued on Tuesday. Besides, the store has also introduced latest design of gold and silver jewelries. The offer is valid till September 19.



MoCS releases WTO book



KATHMANDU
: The Ministry of Commerce and Supplies (MoCS) has released a book entitled “World Trade Organization (WTO) and Nepal” in an effort to provide information about different aspects and facts about WTO and Nepal´s journey before and after the accession to the global trade body. Lal Mani Joshi, secretary at the MoCS released the 5th edition of the book, on Sunday. The book incorporates detailed information about different agreements under the WTO, Nepal´s preparation to combat with the challenges and to take benefits from the international trade regime and utilization of aid for trade to enhance the trade capacity of poor countries.



BF Dear Hill Shoes launches scheme



KATHMANDU
: BF Dear Hill Shoes has launched scratch scheme to boost sales targeting the approaching festive season. According to a press statement, consumers get scratch card through which they can get 5 to 50 percent discount. Through the scratch card, customers can win up to Rs 50,000 cash prize and Di-Star home appliances like vacuum cleaner, gas heater and 37-inch LCD TV, among others. BF Dear Hill Shoes has also launched 30 new models for the upcoming festive season.



Int´l economists´ jamboree in Feb



KATHMANDU
: The government is holding International Economic Summit in mid-Feb next year, which will bring together economists from around the globe to Nepal, according to a statement issued by press secretary of Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun. A decision in this regard was taken by Economic Summit Steering Committee held under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Pun on Tuesday.



“The summit will be helpful in relaying the message that Nepal is viable investment destination and investment climate is improving in the country,” the statement quoted Minister Pun as saying. “We hope the summit will make positive contribution toward country´s economic development.” The preparation work for the summit will be once the steering committee gets a final shape. The Ministry of Finance is planning to include five representatives of different political parties and three economists in the steering committee.



NATO, NATTA oppose fee hike for guides



KATHMANDU
: Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) and Nepal Association of Tour Operators (NATO) have strongly opposed the decision of Tourist Guides´ Association of Nepal (TURGAN) to raise remuneration of tour guides. Issuing separate statements on Tuesday, the associations have urged TURGAN to immediately withdraw the decision and stop taking such unilateral decisions.
