According to the police, the imposters used to take people involved in illegal businesses and immoral activities under their control and extort money from them posing themselves as the police in the civil dress.
"The imposters used to threaten the people with legal action to extort money from them," said Bhuwaneshwor Tiwar Police Inspector at Ward Police Beat at Bagar.
Police said the two had been involved in extortion for over six months. They were arrested red-handed while they were bargaining to extort money from people. According to police, the two had extracted Rs 250 from two couples from near Manipal Hospital and Rs 1,000 from an elderly person three days ago. Similarly, they took Rs 1,000 and 1,800 respectively from two couple en route to Bhalam.
Police had received the information about the imposters after they fleeced Rs 300 from Santosh Bhandari of Pokhara-6, Baidam. Police was of the opinion that they were able to operate for so long as no one complained about them. "The thugs will face the action as per the Public (Offences and Penalties) Act," police said.
One killed, two injured after electrocution
ILAM: A boy was killed and two other injured in Ilam on Saturday after they were electrocuted. According to police, Sandip Rai, 15, of Godak VDC-3, Bhandaribesi died while being taken to hospital. The fatal incident occurred after the locals tried to relocate the electricity pole without informing the Electricity Authority to stop the power. Over a dozen houses inundated
BIRATNAGAR: The torrential overnight rain on Friday inundated over a dozen households in Kerabari VDC in the eastern hill area of Morang District.
According to a local Kisan Shahi , over a dozen houses around Chinarichok were submerged after the swollen Khadam river flowed into the human settlement.
The floodwater damaged property and crops.
