Speaking at a news conference organised to give information about the second and third phase of measles and rubella vaccination campaign announced by the government, Poudel urged journalists to disseminate news about the vaccination going into the facts.
The government has announced the second phase of the campaign from September 17 and third phase from December 17 this year.
According to data, some 1,400 children die from measles and rubella every year in the world and the best way to keep the children safe from the disease is the immunization, he said.The first phase of the campaign had been organised in 15 districts in the far-western and the mid-western regions.
The second phase campaign will run in 16 districts in the western region and nine districts which were missed during the first phase.The vaccination campaign is a part of the National Immunization Program.
Meanwhile, a health specialists´ team formed to carry out a field study on the DPT and measles vaccinations issues in Doti district has submitted a report to the Child Health Division under the Department of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Population.
The Department had formed the team on August 23 and deputed it to the district for study. According to Division´s Director Dr Taranath Pokhrel, the report will be unveiled soon.
The team was formed following the news stories that four infants died after the vaccination in the district recently.
