BUSINESS BRIEFS: JCB dealers meet in Pokhara

KATHMANDU, Aug 17: MAW. Enterprises JCB Division organized a “Pokhara Customer Meet 2012” in the lake city earlier this week in order to know and interact with customers and explore prospects that are associated with construction works. According to a press release issued on Friday, the company organized the program to bring together JCB costumers and identify prospects in different districts of Gandaki zone.



Leading personalities from different walks of lives along with government officials and media persons were present in the program. “There are great opportunities for development in Pokhara. Major hindrance in development of this region is lack of manpower,” reads the release. “So, the company decided to organize customer meet program and bring together all the people related to construction field to make them aware and educate about the use of modern JCB machines.”



Use of JCB machines not only fulfills manpower requirement but also gives more productivity and saves time by reducing high cost, the release added.



´Pepsi Drink N´ Drive´ winners announced

KATHMANDU: Lal Kumari Dahal of Hetauda has won a Suzuki Alto car as the grand prize of ´Pepsi Drink N´ Drive´ campaign organized by Varun Beverages -- the bottlers of Pepsi products in Nepal. Issuing a statement, the company said the lucky winner and weekly winners of 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th week of the campaign were selected in the presence of media representatives on Wednesday.



Mani Raj Kalakheti of Old Baneshwar, Subash Katuwal of Kalopul, Jay Prakash Kafle of Gongabu, Uttam Khulal of Lokanthali and Indira Katuwal of Jayabageshwari won a Bajaj Discover Motorbike each as grand prize for week 4 to 8 respectively. Besides, 25 winners received 32-inch Sharp LCD TVs. "Every week one lucky winner was given a Bajaj Discover motorbike and 5 participants were given a Sharp 32-inch LCD TV. In addition, there were hundreds of Reebok wrist watches and sunglasses, thousands of footballs and free Pepsi given away throughout the promotion period," the statement added. The campaign was launched on June 1.


HAN signs MoU with Sri Lanka Hotel Association

KATHMANDU: Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) and Hotel Association of Sri Lanka have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly promote tourism of both countries. The MoU was signed in Colombo on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, HAN President Shyam Sundarlal Kakshpati stressed the need for direct air connectivity between Colombo and Kathmandu. “We are hopeful that the bilateral ties between Sri Lanka and Nepal will be further strengthened through tourism,” the statement quoted Kakshpati as saying. Around 70,000 tourists visited Nepal in 2011, out of which more than 80 percent visited Lumbini.
