48 quake-injured return home from Bheri Hospital

BANKE, Nov 14: As many as 48 people who were injured in the Jajarkot earthquake and brought to Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj for treatment have recovered and returned home.


“Now only six patients from Jajarkot and Rukum West who were injured in the earthquake are being treated at Bheri Hospital,” said Naresh Shrestha of the District Emergency Operations Center, Banke.


"All the patients have recovered and returned home, now there are only six patients who have undergone surgery", he said.

A separate 'disaster ward' was set up inside the hospital for the patients who came to Bheri for treatment after being injured in the earthquake. Source person Shrestha said that the ward was evacuated after the patient recovered and returned home.


Out of 58 people who were injured in the earthquake and brought to Bheri for treatment, 48 patients have recovered and returned home after treatment. Three people were sent to Kathmandu and one died on the way to the hospital.


Chief District Officer of Banke, Shravan Kumar Pokharel, mentioned that free transportation has been arranged in coordination with various organizations to reach the patients who have recovered and returned home.


On the night of November 2, an earthquake of 6.4 magnitude occurred with the epicenter at Ramidanda in Jajarkot.


As many as 154 people died and 346 were injured in the earthquake. 26,557 private houses were completely damaged and 35,455 houses were partially damaged in the earthquake.
