Family of deceased migrant worker receive compensation

KHOTANG, Aug. 3: Family of Ramesh Koirala of Chisapani-4, Khotang, who was killed in a road accident in South Korea some seven months ago, has been provided with compensation.



The family of Ramesh has received 77.4 million Korean Won worth Rs. 5.5 million in compensation. [break]



Ramesh had lost his life in an accident that took place as he was driving a heavy weight vehicle in South Korea.



Advisor of Khotang Sewa Samaj Korea, Umesh Basnet, said that Labour Welfare Fund and the Korean Labourers´ Insurance Company provided the amount.



The amount has been deposited at the Himalayan Bank with the provision of distribution of equal share to Ramesh´s parents Bharatman and Menuka.



A self-driven vehicle had crushed Koirala on December 18, 2011.



Basnet, however, bemoaned that the Nepali Embassy in Korea, has not yet provided the 5,000 US dollars spent by the Migrant Workers´ Welfare Fund to send the deceased´s body to Nepal.
