Transport fare of public vehicles increase

KATHMANDU, July 19: Department of Transport Management has increased the fare of transport vehicles in view of the latest price hike in petroleum products.



The department increased the transport fare by 3.75 per cent to be effective from today to adjust the price as per the price hike in petroleum products.[break]



The department has increased the transport fare on cargo vehicles in Tarai by 4.45 per cent and in hilly areas by 4.5 per cent.



There will be no change in transport fare at present where there is Rs. 7.00 transport fare, but passengers have to pay six paisa more where there is Rs. 14 as transport fare.



Transport entrepreneurs are not permitted to increase the fare of public vehicles at present where they have already made the fare Rs. 14, but the fare will be increased by 4.45 per cent where there is transport fare more than Rs. 15.



The fare of taxis will not be increased eventhough the price of petrol was increased by Rs. five of late.
