RASUWA, Sept 29: Thirteen child-friendly centres have been set up in different parts of the district to protect children affected by disasters and support their psychosocial development.
The Nepal Red Cross Society established and facilitated the centres with support from UNICEF.

The centres were set up to provide a safe, comfortable and child-friendly environment for children affected by the Bhotekoshi flood disaster. Of the centres set up so far, nine are fully operational, while the remaining four are in the process of becoming operational. Currently, 462 children are being cared for at the operational centres.
Activities related to sports, entertainment, learning, creativity and psychosocial support are conducted according to the children's ages and needs. The centres have given children an opportunity to express their feelings, interact with friends, and take part in creative activities in a safe, positive environment following the disaster.
Currently, the centres have 219 boys and 243 girls. By age group, 88 children are under five years old, while 374 are five or older. Among the children sheltering at the centres, one has a disability, according to the Nepal Red Cross Society's Rasuwa branch.
