Of 46 infected, three are doctors and six are nurses
BIRGUNJ, July 31: The coronavirus (COVID-19) test results acquired on Thursday night confirmed 46 new cases at Narayani Hospital, Birgunj.
According to Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Madan Upadhyay, the new cases were detected through mass testing conducted in various wards of Birgunj Metropolitan city.
Trace and test
Of the 46 fresh cases, 11 are females. The infected people are of 18 to 75 years age group. They are from Bara , Parsa and Rautahat districts.
Similarly, two orthopedician, one doctor and six other staff nurses are also among those who have contracted the virus.
Birgunj Mayor Sarawagi tests positive for COVID-19
Meanwhile, mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City, Vijaykumar Sarawagi has also tested positive for COVID-19. Mayor Sarawagi took to the social media platform and informed that he has tested positive.
Earlier, Sarawagi had visited Kathmandu. He then underwent a Polymerase Chain Reaction test suspecting of COVID-19 transmission. He is currently undergoing treatment at an isolation center.
