Before the commencement of the show, the little participants could be seen excited, and some even quietly kept practicing their acts amidst the distracting crowd.[break]
Presenting various acts ranging from different forms of dance to singing and speeches, the 27 talented participants seemed to have come prepared and not nervous at all.
The slight technical glitches didn’t affect either the performance or the mood of constant number three Sneha Upreti as she danced with her smile intact.
Kamana Shrestha, 19, a 1st year student of Bachelor’s in Education from Ratna Shikshya Public College, had come in support of her niece, Alina Shrestha.
Alina, 11, is a student of Graded English Medium School (GEMS). Kamana said, “I’m not nervous for her because we can see that she is very confident. She will be giving a speech on her desire to be a politician in the future and she has been working hard on her speech. I’m sure she will do well.”
The contestants definitely didn’t act or look like they were scared of facing the crowd. Bibhasha Shrestha, 9, a class four student of Triyog Higher Secondary School, said, “I’m not feeling nervous at all.” Bibhasha had prepared a traditional Newari dance for her act.
Inu Thapa, Public Relations Commissions Director, Kathmandu Jaycees, said, “Apart from the minor technical problems, things are running quite smoothly. We also hadn’t seen the performances prior to this event. We had no time to check the individual performances and we also thought it might reveal to the participants what the other was putting up.”
Judging the Talent Round were Sanjay Nath Joshi, past President of JCI, Sangita Pradhan Rana, singer and Bimala Rai, singer.
The winner of the Talent Round will only be announced on the finale which takes place on June 3.
