KATHMANDU, May 25: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has claimed his government will serve its full term. Giving a brief direction to secretaries after taking an oath of office on Monday afternoon, Nepal said the new government will accomplish the dual tasks of drafting a new constitution and taking the undergoing peace process to a logical end. Nepal instructed all government officials to remove corruption, the nature of dilly-dallying and lack of accountability in ministries, departments and all other offices. He directed high-level officials present at the meeting to take initiatives to bring about improvement in police´s behavior towards the public.
The newly-elected Prime Minister instructed concerned officials to take immediate initiatives to clear garbage piled along the streets in Kathmandu and turn it a clean capital city. "I have been feeling for couple of days that the garbage piled along the side of the roads has insulted me. Therefore, I urge the concerned officials to immediately clear it," he said.
He gave assurance to civil servants that the new government will make no discrimination on any grounds. "Rest assured and do your job with honesty, sincerity and with accountability," he said.
The first meeting of Madhav Kumar Nepal-led cabinet decided to lay foundation stone of Republic Statue at Ratnapark of the capital on the occasion of Ganatantra Day on May 29.
According to newly appointed Finance Minister Surendra Pandey, the cabinet meeting also decided to appeal to all the political parties to go hand in hand to make the ongoing peace process a success and accomplish the task of constitution drafting within the stipulated time.
"The meeting also thanked the political parties for their help for formation of the new government under its leadership," said Pandey.
