The District Adminisration Office (DAO) of Dhading organized a function at Dhadingbeshi to distribute Rs one million each to the families of Man Bahadur Tamang, of Baireni VDC-6, Krishna Bahadur Tamang, of Baireni VDC-1 and Birbahadur Tamang, of Pida VDC-8, who were killed in the blast. [break]
Chief District Officer Bed Prasad Kharel handed over the cheques to Krishna Bahadur´s wife Goma, Bir Bahadur´s wife Kanchhimaya and Man Bahadur´s wife Sanukanchhi.
However, Som Bahadur Tamang, of Pida VDC-8 in Dhading district, who was also injured in the blast, has not yet receieved any compensation from the government.
Soon after the blast, the government had announced one million rupees compensation to each of the victim families as compensation. As the government failed to allocate the money immediately, a struggle committee formed by the Babarmahal blast victims had been carrying out a series of protests.
Man Bahadur, Bir Bahadur and Krishna Bahadur had come to Kathmandu to mortagage ancestral lands to pay off their loans. They were standing by the compound wall of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) on February 27 when the blast occurred.
