Keeping hydrated is one of the ideal ways of keeping cool and many people have made it a point to carry full water bottles with them. This is a healthy habit during summer and all young people venturing out into the sun should make it a point to carry water. Many young people have also started carrying umbrellas to help themselves protected from the warm rays of the sun.
“These days I regularly carry a bottle of water and handkerchief with me,” says Bishwas Praja, 19, currently a student of Bachelor’s of Business Studies at Nepal Commerce Campus, adding, “And I also make it a point to smile because a smile reduces stress and cools me spiritually.”
The problems of load shedding also come into play during summer because many people are unable to use fans or air conditioners in their homes.
“Our country is facing problems of load shedding and due to that we’re facing more and more problems during the summer. So I’ve moved on to other ways to keep myself cool. I’ve started swimming, having cold drinks and ice creams and I have even started sleeping on the roof of my house to get cool and fresh air,” says Lex Pokhrel.
“I like sitting under the fan. But unfortunately, I have to travel. So when I go out, I drink as much cold drinks and sugarcane juice as I can. When I’m home, I don’t wear upper clothes,” says Rajesh Bhandari on our Facebook page. Since the heat has significantly risen in Nepal, young people are finding cooler drinks to enjoy and cooler activities to indulge in. People have started wearing shorter and thinner clothes to help them battle the heat and have also avoided venturing out into the city.
