15-year term for Bhaktaman abduction mastermind

CHITWAN, June 6: Chitwan District Court on Wednesday sentenced Rohit Paliwal, the Indian mastermind of the abduction of the then Executive Director of BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, Bharatpur Dr Bhaktaman Shrestha and Bhimsen Pandit for 15 years.



The bench of Justice Bhola Nath Chaulagain also slapped 13-year term to four other accomplices Badri Dhungana, Nabin Chhetri, Sunil Shrestha and Subba Tamang. [break]



Shrestha was abducted from Chitwan on May 19, 2010, and released on June 5 from Majhimtar at the border of Dhading and Chitwan districts following 19 days in captivity. Paliwal was arrested in February, 2011 from India while Pandit is still absconding.
