KATHMANDU, Aug 21: The Seventh National Games scheduled to be held in Eastern Region from November 23 to 30 will see participation of 4,445 players in 30 different games.
According to a statement issued by the National Sports Council (NSC), a meeting of the Seventh National Games Executive Committee held under the presidency of NSC Member Secretary Keshav Kumar Bista in Satdobato on Sunday confirmed the number of participants.
Altogether 1,747 male and 1,153 female players will vie in the main event after progressing from district and regional qualifiers. Similarly, 1,545 players will get direct entry in the games. Likewise, 318 coaches, 193 managers, 812 judges and 63 representatives from sports associations will take part in the national games.
The meeting has decided to host the district qualifiers from September 10 to 30 and regional qualifiers from November 8 to 18.
Players will compete for a total of 1055 medals, including 299 golds and silvers and 457 bronzes. The National Games will be held in Sunsari, Morang, Jhapa, Ilam, Siraha and Saptari districts.
National Sports Council has already decided to organize the seventh national games in Eastern Development Region from November 23 to 30.
The seventh edition of the Games scheduled to be held last year was postponed twice due to various reasons. Swimming, triathlon, body building and marathon were held last year and the NSC will not organize these events in the games.
