NECOS organized a press meet in the capital on Tuesday to inform about the decision taken at its general convention that concluded on Monday. [break]
"We have decided to press the government to increase budget allocation for the sports sector," said Purushottam Paudel, president of NECOS. "We´ll also lobby for increase in budget allocation at the political level," he added.
Paudel urged the government to implement the National Sports Policy formulated two years ago. "Though we want amendments, the government should first implement the policy," said Paudel.
NECOS asked the government to complete construction of National Sports Academy at Gauritar, Makawanpur. "Besides, the government should also focus on developing sports infrastructure as we will be hosting the 13th South Asian Games very soon," said Paudel.
