India gifts 12 Bolero jeeps

KATHMANDU, April 13: The government of India on Thursday gifted 12 Bolero vehicles to Nepal to facilitate the implementation of Indian assisted projects.



“The Indian government gifted the Bolero vehicles to monitor and expedite implementation of Indian assisted large projects in Nepal,” reads a press release issued by the Indian Embassy. [break]



Construction of roads in the terai, integrated check posts and cross border rail links are the projects that are being carried out in Nepal.



On the road construction front, 605 km and 900 km roads will be built under first and second phase respectively while four integrated check-posts at Raxaul- Birgunj, Saunali-Bhairahawa, Jogbani-Biratnagar and Nepalgunj road (India)-Nepalgunj (Nepal), the statement added.



Similarly, there will be cross-border railway links at five locations on the Nepal-Indo border under cross-border railway link project.



Indian ambassador Jayanta Prasad handed over the vehicles to Minister for Physical Planning and Works Hridayesh Tripathi amid a ceremony in the capital.



Addressing the function Tripathy lauded Indian government´s support to Nepal.



Ambassador Prasad also expressed hope that the vehicles would help expedite the projects that are under way.
