KATHMANDU, Dec 30: A total of 42 local governments have failed to submit the records of their financial settlement of 2020/21 even when almost six months of the following fiscal year have passed.
The Financial Procedures and Fiscal Accountability Act 2019 has mandated the sub-national governments to submit the reports of a fiscal year to the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO) by the first quarter end of the following fiscal year. The FCGO records show these local governments however have not submitted their transactions record even after the three months of the deadline.
Most of the local governments breaching the state’s law are from Jhapa, Rautahat and Humla districts. According to the FCGO, it has given these local governments a 24-hour ultimatum ending on Wednesday, to send their reports.
